The Figure Academy was founded by Lara Clark CA(SA) after she saw the disconnect between entrepreneurs and their business books. Most people who start a business are not finance and accounting guru’s (and that is what makes their business so incredible!) but they need the fundamental knowledge of business accounting and tax. When business owners don’t have this knowledge, they turn to the pro’s and they get an accountant/bookkeeper/tax practitioner to do it for them because they just don’t know how, they get overwhelmed when they think about it and would rather just hand it over than have to deal with it. But this path is dangerous, because they are essentially turning a blind eye to the most important part of their business. The Figure Academy fills that gap by empowering the entrepreneur with the accounting, finance and tax skills that they need to run their business. We don’t want to become your accountants or tax person; we want to teach you to have the knowledge and teach you how to do it yourself. You can still decide to have an accountant or bookkeeper, but at least you now know what information they need, what they should be doing and you can work with them to grow your business from strength to strength. You will finally speak the same language.

We simplify the jargon into easy–to-understand workbooks and templates and apply an entrepreneurial filter to make it practical, dynamic and applicable! Our big hairy audacious goal is to be the go-to-destination for entrepreneurs looking to gain financial literacy and become financially empowered. We aim to improve the lives of entrepreneurs by reducing their accounting overwhelm and stress, and replacing it with confidence that is rooted in the understanding how their business is performing.
We understand the overwhelm and the stress when it comes to having to know something in your business but you don’t have the skills or training. We understand that not everyone is a finance and accounting guru and that not everyone loves tax. So we bring that understanding into the courses and we relate to you – where ever you may be in your business journey!
